About Rock MidgetsRock Midgets.com originally started as a paper zine called Seething Little Monsters back in 1999. Run by a bored gap year student Ruth Booth, it reached a mere two issues before sinking without trace in 2000.
Seething Little Monsters refused to die a quiet death, and after managing to secure early interviews with the likes of Coldplay, and one of the last interviews with the mighty Unbelievable Truth, it was hardly a surprise. The former SLM team took the tagline from the last issue - Rock Midgets, spank your planks - a new concept was born. If they ran a website, it wouldn't cost as much to run it.
Rock Midgets.com was born in late 2001, covering a wide spectrum of indie and rock flavoured offerings from the UK and overseas. After a shaky start, we're back, with a new focus on rock, metal, punk and whatever NME wants to call it this week stuff.
The phrase "Rock Midgets" refers to the idea of up-and-coming bands with not quite a following large enough to be referred to as Rock Gods, but hot damn, do they have the potential. Nowadays Rock Midgets.com takes all bands (big ones, small ones, some as big as your head) and level them down to the distinction that has haunted man since the dawn of time - are they any good? To this end you'll find us in all manner of venues up and down the country, looking for the bands that make us laugh, the bands that make us cry, and the ones so awesome, you'll wet your pants.
